Welcome to my web site. My name is Joan Fiset. I began my private practice as a psychotherapist in 2001. Until 1995 I was, for many years, a teacher of writing and literature. More and more I recognize the inherent connection between the process of psychotherapy and the learning process. Both involve getting to know one’s mind and self in relation to experience; both involve growth, and the possibility of eventual change.
I received an MA in Psychology from Antioch University in 1998, and am a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My post-graduate training includes certification (2008) as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist through COR Northwest Family Development Center.
I’ve recently closed my private practice and may be offering writing groups for women in transition as well as for adult children of schizophrenic mothers in the fall.
